Eight students selected to perform at Undergraduate Honor Recital on Nov. 3
LAWRENCE - Eight School of Music students will perform in the 2015 Undergraduate Honor Recital. Students were selected through a competitive audition process and chosen by a committee of music faculty. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, in Swarthout Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
The School of Music students performing are as follows:
Tristan Greeno is a sophomore piano performance major from Seattle, WA studying with Steven Spooner, associate professor of piano. He will perform Etude – Tableaux Op. 39 No. 1 by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
Brendan Fairleigh is a sophomore clarinet performance major from Olathe, KS studying with Stephanie Zelnick, associate professor of clarinet. He will perform Premiere Rhapsody by Claude Debussy.
Henry Setton is a freshman violin performance major from Sao Paulo, Brazil studying with Véronique Mathieu, assistant professor of violin. He will perform Violin Sonata #1 in G Minor – BWV 1001 (Adagio and Presto) by J.S.Bach.
Yuliana Wijaya is a senior piano performance major from Jakarta, Indonesia studying with Steven Spooner, associate professor of piano. She will perform Humoreske Op. 20 (I. Einfach) by Robert Schumann.
Juan Gonzales, tenor, is a senior vocal performance major from Overland Park, KS studying with Genaro Mendez, associate professor of voice. He will perform Oh Fair to See, Op. 136: No. 1 - I say I’ll seek her side No. 2 - Oh fair to see No. 3 - As I lay in the early sun by Gerald Finzi.
Kai Ono is a junior piano performance and music composition major from Irvine, CA studying with Scott McBride Smith, professor of piano pedagogy. He will perform Nocturne No. 4 by Lowell Liebermann.
Philip Kaul, saxophone, is a senior music education major from De Soto, KS studying with Vince Gnojek, professor of saxophone. He will perform Concerto Mul: III - Rondo by Pierre Max Dubois.
Kristen A. Larsen, soprano, is a senior vocal performance major from Lindenhurst, IL studying with Genaro Mendez, associate professor of voice. She will perform Kommt ein schlanker Bursch gegangen from Der Freischutz, Act II, scene I by Carl Maria von Weber.
