The Fountain City Brass Band, a group made of up KU students and Professor Scott Watson, made history by being the first American brass band in 150 years to win a brass band competition on British soil when they recently won the Scottish Open Brass Band Championship.
While in the United Kingdom on tour in November of 2009, Professor Watson and students not only competed in the Scottish Open Brass Band Championship, but also performed at the prestigious Brass in Concerto Gala Concert with the legendary Black Dyke and Cory Bands. The group also presented concerts and clinics throughout Britain and recorded a CD entitled "Over the Rainbo? that will be released in the spring.
