Graduate Music Audition Application

If you have not already done so, please download and read carefully the Graduate Application Document (pdf) before completing the audition application. Auditions WILL NOT be scheduled if you have not completed a graduate application to the School of Music. Audition requirements can be found in the Graduate Audition Requirements (pdf).

We must receive the audition application three weeks prior to the audition date to guarantee your audition will be scheduled. Audition requests received AFTER February 1, 2017 will be considered on a space available basis. Complete this application to schedule an audition for the Master of Music (MM) or Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree in the following performance areas: Piano, Voice and Opera, Strings, Percussion, Woodwinds, and Church Music with a Choral Emphasis. (Brass, Organ and Church Music with an Organ Emphasis must schedule auditions with the individual instrumental professor. See the Graduate Audition document for contact information.)

PRE-SCREENING AUDITION: All Piano, Voice and Opera applicants must have submitted and passed a pre-screening audition before completing this audition application. Pre-screening auditions are submitted to app.getacceptd.com/kumusic ». Auditions can not be scheduled for voice, opera and piano until the pre-screening has been received and approved. Pre-screening auditions must be submitted by December 1, 2016 for priority consideration.

Graduate applicants interested in the Lyric Opera of Kansas City apprenticeship should plan to perform a live audition on Friday, February 10, 2017. Go to the School of Music VOICE webpage for more information about the Kansas City Lyric Opera apprenticeship program.


If you are not able to audition on the scheduled audition dates, contact the faculty member in your area listed on the audition document to schedule an alternate audition date and time. The availability of an alternate date is at the discretion of the division for which you are auditioning.


Video submissions through app.getacceptd.com/kumusic » in place of a live audition are allowed only if they have been pre-approved by the School of Music. For more information please contact Jane Gnojek, jgnojek@ku.edu.

Music majors are not fully accepted until all application requirements have been met and a satisfactory audition has been reported to the School of Music Graduate Office.
