KU’s Partnership for the Arts series presents Opera/Vocal Outreach project

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas School of Music and Reach Out Kansas, Inc., are pleased to present the 2011-12 Kansas Partnership for the Arts, a series featuring numerous performances by renowned faculty, students and international guest artists. Included in this new series is the Opera/Vocal Outreach initiative, a program created to promote opera’s relevance to audiences young and old.

Over 50 performances will be presented free of charge in schools, community centers and senior centers across rural, suburban and urban Kansas communities.

Performances have taken place or are planned for the following locations, and more dates may soon be booked in Silver Lake, Alma, Sabetha, Hiawatha, Seneca, Paola, Hays, Liberal, Garden City, Hugoton and Wichita:

The Opera Outreach project is comprised of a quartet of singers and one pianist, all graduates of the University of Kansas School of Music: Amy Cahill, soprano; Meaghan Deiter, mezzo soprano; Charles Martinez, tenor; Lane Johnson, baritone; and Evangelos Spanos, piano.
