KU Bands help celebrate centennial of KU Homecoming with KU Alumni Band festivities

Friday, October 5, 2012

LAWRENCE--Join the KU Bands to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of homecoming at KU!

The University of Kansas Alumni Band Weekend will be October 26-27, 2012. The parade will take place Friday evening at 6:00pm beginning at the Chi Omega Fountain, concluding with a pep rally at the Adams Alumni Center. An Alumni Band reception will take place Friday night at the Alumni Center, as well. The Alumni Band will perform at halftime of the KU vs. Texas football game on Saturday. As part of the 100th anniversary celebration, KU Bands will recognize former drum majors of the KU Band.

This year the KU Alumni Band was named winner of the Rich and Judy Billings Spirit of 1912 Award, given by the KU Alumni Association and the student-led Homecoming Steering Committee. This annual award recognizes special contributions to KU’s Homecoming celebration. The Spirit of 1912 award celebrates the first year of KU’s Homecoming and honors Rich and Judy Billings of Lakewood, CO, who in 2011 created an endowment to fund future editions of Homecoming.
