KU Chamber Winds and Symphonic Band to perform Oct. 12
The University of Kansas Chamber Winds and Symphonic Band will present a joint concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Lied Center of Kansas.
KU Chamber Winds, which is composed of KU Wind Ensemble musicians and conducted by Paul W. Popiel, director of bands, will perform works for chamber winds, including “Largo” from Serenade No. 10 by W.A. Mozart, “Nocturno for Winds” by Felix Mendelssohn and “Symphony for Brass Tenet” by Jan Koetsier.
The KU Symphonic Band, conducted by Matthew O. Smith, will perform Clifton Williams’ “Symphonic Suite,” along with Joseph Turrin’s “Scarecrow Overture,” Richard Wagner’s “Trauersinfonie” and Frank Ticheli’s “Dancing on Water.”
Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children, seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at the Lied Center Ticket Office, by phone at 785-864-2787 or online at lied.ku.edu. The concert is one of ten that make-up the KU School of Music’s season ticket package at the Lied Center. By purchasing the ticket package, ten concerts are available at the reduced cost of $50 for adults and $25 for children, seniors or students.
