LAWRENCE - The University of Kansas School of Music is pleased to announce the 2015-2016 KU School of Music concert season. The concert season includes more than 50 shows featuring the incredible talents of students, faculty and visiting artists, with performances in Lawrence, Kansas City, Overland Park, Topeka, and New York City.
The fall semester kicks off with Faculty Recital Series: Steven Spooner, piano, on Sunday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in newly remodeled Swarthout Recital Hall, Murphy Hall. This performance is free and open to the public. The concert features some of the most beloved music for the piano including works by Debussy, Schubert, Liszt, Scriabin, and original works. On Sunday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m., the Kansas Virtuosi, featuring the world-class talents of KU faculty artists, will begin their 2015-2016 series in Swarthout Recital Hall, also free and open to the public.
The 16th Annual Collage Concert is a Jayhawk tradition that celebrates a new academic year by sharing vibrant music culture through performances featuring students and faculty. The Collage Concert will be held Friday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lied Center of Kansas. Admission is free for KU students with a valid ID, $16 for adults and $11 for seniors and children. Additionally, the KU School of Music is pleased to again offer a reduced price ticket package for select shows in the 2015-2016 KU School of Music Concerts at the Lied Center season.
Ticket packages for 10 concerts from the select list below are available at the reduced cost of $50 for adults and $25 for children, seniors & students. At the time of purchase, package subscribers may select any 10 concerts from the list of 12 below. All concerts in the reduced price ticket package series begin at 7:30 p.m. Reduced price season ticket packages may be purchased at the Lied Center Ticket Office or by phone at 785-864-2787. The Lied Center charges a $5 service fee for each order.
