KU School of Music presents fall Undergraduate Honor Recital on Oct. 18

LAWRENCE - Nine University of Kansas School of Music students will perform in the fall Undergraduate Honor Recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 in Swarthout Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.


The School of Music students performing are as follows (in order of performance):


Brendan Fairleigh is a junior clarinet performance major from Olathe. He is a student of Stephanie Zelnick, associate professor of clarinet. Fairleigh will perform Hommage á M. de Falla by Béla Kovács.


Kai Ono is a senior piano performance and composition major from Irvine, California. He is a student of Scott McBride Smith, Cordelia Brown Murphy professor of piano pedagogy. Ono will perform Sonata No. 13 in A major, D.664 by Franz Schubert.


Madeleine Wilmsen is a junior Bachelor of Arts-Music major from Wildwood, Missouri. She is a student of Sarah Frisof, associate professor of flute. Wilmsen will perform Fantaisie by Georges Hüe.


Rebecca Gray is a junior vocal performance major from Bremerton, Washington. A soprano, Gray is a student of Julia Broxholm, associate professor of voice. Gray will perform The Bird by John Duke and Love’s Philosophy by Roger Quilter.


Malcom Liu is a sophomore piano performance major from Chengdu, China. He is a student of McBride Smith. Liu will perform Sonata No. 2’s I. Overture and II. Tarantella by Ned Rorem.


Joshua Hugo is a junior euphonium performance major from Rosemount, Minnesota. He is a student of Scott Watson, professor of tuba and euphonium. Hugo will perform Pilatus: Mountain Air by Goff Richards.


Henry Setton is a sophomore violin performance major from Sao Paulo, Brazil. He is a student of Véronique Mathieu, assistant professor of violin. Setton will perform Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64 by Felix Mendelssohn.


Hexing Xiao is a junior piano performance major from Chengdu, China. He is a student of Jack Winerock, professor of piano. Xiao will perform Triana from Iberia Book II by Isaac Albéniz.


Maddie Bert is a junior flute performance major from St. Louis. She is the student of Frisof. Bert will perform Sonatine pour Flûte et Piano by Pierre Sancan.
