KU Symphonic Band presents concert on May 2
Lawrence, KS — The KU Symphonic Band will present its final concert of the 2016-2017 season at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2 at the Lied Center of Kansas.
To open the performance, Matthew O. Smith, associate director of bands, will conduct the band in Kenneth Hesketh’s “Masque.” Smith will also conduct Robert Russell Bennett’s “Suite of Old American Dances,” and Josef Franz Wagner’s “Under the Double Eagle.” Brooke Humfeld will guest conduct Aaron Perrine’s “Tears of St. Lawrence,” and Brett Keating will guest conduct Richard Strauss’ “All Souls’ Day.”
The concert will conclude with Smith conducting Luis Serrano Alarcón’s “Pequeña Suite para Banda.”
Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children, seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at the Lied Center Ticket Office, online at lied.ku.edu or by phone at 785-864-2787.
