KU University Band and Symphonic Band to perform Nov. 27

The University of Kansas University Band and Symphonic Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27 at the Lied Center of Kansas.
A concert highlight will be three works by Australian-born composer Percy Aldridge Grainger. The University Band will perform “Australian Up-Country Tune” and the Symphonic Band will perform “Ye Banks and Braes O’Boonie Doon” and “Shepherd’s Hey.”
The University Band, conducted by Sharon Toulouse, assistant director of bands, will also perform “Rhythm Machine” by Timothy Broege, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” and “At the Strongholds of En Gedi” by David Holsinger. Stuart O’Neil will guest conduct “Comic March,” a work he composed.
Along with the Grainger works, the Symphonic Band, conducted by Matthew O. Smith, associate director of bands, will perform John Mackey’s “This Cruel Moon,” Gustav Holst’s Second Suite in F and Ola Gjeilo’s “Meridian.”
