KU Wind Ensemble performance to feature "Winds of Nagual" by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Michael Colgrass

LAWRENCE - The University of Kansas Wind Ensemble, conducted by Paul W. Popiel, director of bands, will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12 and again at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13 at the Lied Center of Kansas.
The performance features Winds of Nagual by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Michael Colgrass and also the world premiere of Citadel by emeritus faculty member James Barnes, which celebrates the KU 150 sesquicentennial. The concert also features works by Persichetti, which will be guest conducted by Tonya Mitchell, and Saint-Saens.
On Nov. 12, tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children, seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at the Lied Center Ticket Office, by phone at 785-864-2787 or online at lied.ku.edu.
On Nov. 13, the concert is free and open to the public.
