KU Youth Chorus to start off new year October 21

Friday, September 24, 2010

The KU Youth Chorus (KUYC) will begin its sixth year on October 21, 2010, at the University of Kansas.

The choir is a non-auditioned group for children in grades 4-8 and is under the direction of Dr. Debra Hedden, associate professor of music education and music therapy.

KUYC meets most Thursdays until mid-May from 4:30-5:45. The group will perform in December for the Chancellor’s Holiday Reception and some members will be singing in KU’s opera, Hansel and Gretel, next spring.

Information about KUYC and rehearsal schedule is available at here. Parents and children are asked to attend the initial, brief meeting on October 21, with rehearsal following. The choir rehearses in 328 Murphy Hall on campus.

Please call Debra Hedden at 785-864-9638 or email her at dhedden@ku.edu for additional information. Two scholarships are available for financially challenged families.
