Midwestern Conductors Workshop

The University of Kansas Bands will be hosting the Midwestern Conductors Workshop on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, 2015. Dr. Mallory Thompson, Director of Bands at Northwestern University and Artistic Director of the Northshore Concert Band, will work with conductors, along with Paul W. Popiel, KU Director of Bands, and Matthew O. Smith, KU Associate Director of Bands.

New this year is the Friday night chamber ensemble session.

The Midwestern Conductors Workshop is open to conductors of all levels. Participating conductors will have the opportunity to conduct the University of Kansas Wind Ensemble, recently hailed by the New York Times as "one of America's most esteemed concert bands."

Conducting repertoire includes:
Serenade, opus 7, Richard Strauss (Friday night only)
First Suite in E-flat, Gustav Holst
Lincolnshire Posy, Percy Grainger
Simple Gifts, Frank Ticheli
Down a Country Lane, Aaron Copland
