New Art Faculty: Matthew Burke
Matthew Burke, Assistant Professor of Art in Sculpture, earned his B.A. (cum laude) at Colby College in Waterville, Maryland and earned his MFA in sculpture at Queens College in New York.
Professor Burke worked as adjunct assistant professor at St. John's University in Queens, as visiting assistant professor at Dartmouth College and was a teaching assistant for an Introduction to Drawing and 3-D Design class at Queens College.While at Colby College, Burke worked as sculpture technical assistant.
Burke has received numerous awards and residencies, including Sculpture Space, a funded residency in Utica, New York, a Connemara Residency in Allen, Texas, and an award for his Digital Mural Project at The Print Center and Philadelphia's Mural Project, just to name a few.In addition to these awards and residencies, Burke has acted as a visiting artist lecturer at various schools.
Burke has shown his art in numerous solo and group exhibitions over the past twelve years.He has also worked as graphic designer for clients including Bumble and bumble, JP Morgan Chase & Company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and others.Burke is an active member of the American Association of University Professors, the Brooklyn Working Artists Coalition, the National Preservation for Historic Trust and the College Art Association.Burke has also been a member of the Board of Directors for the New York Artist Equity.
