KU School of Music celebrates anniversary of composer Franz Liszt's birth with A Liszt Odyssey

The KU School of Music is pleased to present A Liszt Odyssey, September 11-13, 2011. This festival is set to become one of the most memorable and visible Liszt festivals in the world as it will feature Alan Walker, the world’s greatest authority on Liszt, and composer Mohammed Fairouz and his world premiere of The Last Resistance, a work created specifically for the festival.

Included in this celebration will be a broad array of cultural and educational events highlighting the many aspects of Liszt’s art, such as performances by visiting artists Massimiliano Baggio, a piano ensemble specialist from the famed Milan Conservatory; Liszt expert Alan Walker; Mohammed Fairouz, the distinguished young composer; and Professor Steven Spooner, to name a few.
In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the renowned pianist, composer and patron of the arts, the KU School of Music is pleased to partner with sponsor Reach Out Kansas, Inc., as well as the Lied Center of Kansas, the Spencer Museum of Art and Bales Recital Hall, to present this commemoration celebrating the famed life and legacy of Franz Liszt.
