Extraordinary Piano – An Evening of KU School of Music piano performances at the Kauffman Center on March 7th
LAWRENCE, KS —The KU School of Music presents Extraordinary Piano – KU School of Music concert on Thursday, March 7th at 7:00 pm at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, MO.
Selecting their own works, fourteen students, from undergraduate through doctoral levels, were chosen by competitive auditions to perform in the concert.
Composers represented include Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Robert Schumann and contemporary composer Mohammed Fairouz, who has also composed for the KU Wind Ensemble. The works performed will include music for solo piano, as well as piano duets for two pianos, and piano trios (piano with wind and string instruments). “The Miniatures” by Fairouz will be accompanied by live dance, choreographed by KU Dance faculty members Patrick Suzeau and Muriel Cohan.
“We’ve very excited to showcase some of the exceptional talents of our students to a wider audience at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts,” said Scott McBride Smith, KU piano division director.
