Master Series
The University of Kansas, School of Music, proudly announces the Brass & Percussion Master Series.
World renowned brass and percussion artists will be visiting the KU Campus in the Spring of 2010 in an exciting new Masters Series. This Series will include Master Classes and Performances that will be open to the general public and free of charge. In all, at least 20 Artists will present Master Classes and Perform, throughout the Spring 2010 academic semester, to share their talents and insight .
Visiting the KU School of Music will be:
- Jon Lewis, Trumpet, Hollywood Recording Artist;
- Jim Self, legendary Hollywood studio tuba performer;
- Tom Freer, percussion, The Cleveland Orchestra;
- Ronald Barron, Prncipal Trombone (retired), Boston Symphony;
- Ray Riccomini, Trumpet, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra;
- Robert Van Sice, Professor of Percussion at Yale School of Music, Curtis Institute and Peabody Conservatory;
- Mark Inouye, Principal Trumpet, San Francisco Symphony;
- James Thatcher, "the most frequently heard horn player in the world" first-call LA studio player since 1985;
- The United States Army Brass Quintet
A further exciting aspect of this Master Series will be a series of Master Classes presented by the members of the brass and percussion sections of the Kansas City Symphony.
These events will be primarily scheduled in Murphy Hall on the KU Lawrence Campus, with some events to be held at the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park, KS. Please check the updated schedule link on this site for up-to-date scheduling information.
