Application Procedures for Summer Study, Master's Level Choral/Vocal Pedagogy Emphasis

For full details on how to apply, read thoroughly the information found on the Graduate Application Procedures Document.
Applicants are responsible for following the directions detailed on this document.

    RE-ENROLLMENT

Students not enrolled in this Spring semester who wish to take courses this summer must file an Application for Permit to Re-enroll. Print, sign, and mail the Application for Permit to Re-enroll form to the MEMT office.

    NEW APPLICATIONS

First-time applicants have two options by which to apply for this Summer :

    OPTION ONE.

Apply for regular graduate degree-seeking status, following the directions on the Graduate Application Procedures Document. Please make sure you allow sufficient time for all parts of the application, including application DVD and official GRE scores, to be on hand in the MEMT office by May 15.

If you are a summers-only graduate student, you may be provisionally admitted for degree-seeking status by filling out the application, submitting your official transcripts, and submitting the letters of recommendation. This option permits you, if accepted, to complete up to 8 hrs of graduate coursework, prior to submitting the GRE scores and application DVD. In other words, it buys you a little time. However, applicants admitted provisionally may not enroll in any further coursework until all items necessary for degree-seeking status are on hand, and the full application has been acted upon favorably by the MEMT Division. If it is your intent to seek provisional admission for degree-seeking status for summers-only study, please email Dr. James F. Daugherty, Director of Graduate Studies specifying that intention: jdaugher at ku. edu

    OPTION TWO.

Begin study as a non-degree seeking graduate student. Apply for non degree-seeking graduate status, following the directions on the Graduate Application Procedures Document. This application entails only the completed application form and receipt of official transcripts. However, be advised only 6 hrs of graduate credit taken as a non-degree seeking student may transfer to a degree program. Moreover, you would still need to complete the degree-seeking application at some later point, should you wish to pursue a degree. In other words, this route potentially would entail completion of two applications and payment of two application fees, one for non-degree seeking status and one for degree-seeking status. Unless time is an issue or you simply wish to earn graduate credit without pursuing a degree, you would be better advised to do Option One above.
