Teaching speaking to students seated in a circle

For all music education and music therapy majors, admission into the School of Music is contingent upon a successful audition on the major performing medium.

The music education curriculum prepares individuals to teach music - instrumental, choral, and general - in grades K-12. It also prepares for teaching music to preschool, adult and geriatric populations. Alternative careers for music education majors include church music, music librarianship, music journalism, music composition, and music performance.

The music therapy curriculum prepares individuals for health service careers in hospitals, institutions for exceptional children and adults, community mental health facilities, geriatric facilities, and other health or school related settings as well as private practice. Alternative careers for music therapy majors include a variety of functional music applications.
