Graduate
Admissions
All students must apply for acceptance to the University of Kansas and to the School of Music. Interested persons are referred to the Undergraduate Studies page and Graduate Studies page for complete information.
Auditions
The audition for the Division of Piano serves as an application to the School of Music. It is also a contributing factor in undergraduate student scholarship and graduate student teaching assistantship considerations. Piano scholarships are awarded only to students who enroll in the four-year BM degree in piano performance. For more information on KU School of Music Auditions, click here.
The suggested compositions are indications of musical styles and levels of difficulty for prospective undergraduate studnt auditions. Compositions of comparable difficulty are acceptable. Questions regarding alternate selections should be addressed to the Division Director.
MM
Applicants must perform an audition before the faculty. In some cases, an audio or videotape recording may be submitted in lieu of a live performance. A complete list of repertoire studied, including past recitals programs, should be furnished at the time of audition or submission of the recording.
DMA
Applicant must be prepared to perform the equivalent of a full master's recital in an audition before the faculty. The applicant also should submit a comprehensive repertoire list indicating work studied, memorized, performed in public, or ready for immediate performance. In the case of international students, acceptance may be achieved by submitting an audio or videotape recording.
