School of Music presents the 15th Annual KU Collage Concert at the Lied Center on Sept. 19

Thursday, September 11, 2014

LAWRENCE – The University of Kansas School of Music will kick off the new school year with the 15th annual KU Collage Concert, an exciting opportunity for the Lawrence-area community to experience KU's vibrant music culture through performances featuring the talents of students and faculty.

This year’s concert will feature the KU Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Singers, Jazz Ensemble I and Wind Ensemble, as well as performances by the Graduate String Quartet, Graduate Woodwind Quintet, Percussion Ensemble, Saxophone Quartet I, Horn Ensemble, and student soloists Etta Fung, soprano, and Jiwon Choi, piano. The concert always concludes with a performance by the Marching Jayhawks.

The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19 at the Lied Center of Kansas. Admission is free to KU students with a valid ID, $16 for adults and $11 for seniors and children.

“The Collage Concert is a Jayhawk tradition that celebrates a new academic year by sharing our music in multiple forms in one performance,” said Robert Walzel, School of Music dean. “There is no better way to see all that the KU School of Music has to offer. It is a rare and wonderful evening for our faculty, staff and students that we look forward to every year.”

All proceeds from the Collage Concert benefit the Student Opportunity Fund, a resource providing essential financial support for School of Music students participating in competitions, presentations and conferences throughout the country and beyond.

Additionally, a special fundraiser for the School of Music Student Opportunity Fund will take place in the Pavilion at the Lied Center prior to the evening’s performance. Tickets to this event are $85 per person (includes entry to the concert). For questions or event registration, please contact Kylie Smith at 785-864-4104 or kyliesmith@ku.edu
