KU European Organ Study Tour VI:
The South of France May 20- June 2, 2014

Many Americans know little about the organs in this beautiful part of France. Fewer still have had the opportunity to play many of the gorgeous instruments that we will experience. As you might expect, the tour focuses on French Classic organs and the instruments of Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, but along the way we will also experience modern French, German, and Italian organs.

Carolyn Shuster-Fournier, the choir organist at La Trinité in Paris is our consultant for this tour. Those of you who went on our last French tour in 2005 will remember her as a knowledgeable and energetic advocate for French organ culture and music. I’m also happy to tell you that Dave Rhodes, my trusted sidekick from past tours will once again be joining us next spring.

In addition to the organs, there will be a focus on church architecture and opportunities to experience the richness of Mediterranean culture. Please see the attached itinerary for details regarding the tour and how to register for it. If you would like further information or have questions, please contact Michael Bauer at mbauer@ku.edu
