American Bandmasters Association convention coming to Lawrence
Get ready for a week full of live music this Spring. Hundreds of musicians are headed to Lawrence for the annual American Bandmasters Association convention, hosted this year by the KU School of Music and KU Bands.
This will be the 88th year for the convention, which will bring public concerts to the Lied Center March 1-3, 2023. Performers will include Broken Arrow High School Wind Ensemble (March 1st at 7:30pm), University of Iowa Symphony Band (March 1st at 8:45pm), University of Kansas Wind Ensemble (March 2nd at 7:30pm), Michigan State University Wind Symphony (March 2nd at 8:45 pm), and the United States Navy Band (March 3rd at 7:30 pm).
In addition to live music performances, the convention will bring approximately 300 esteemed members of this national honorary organization to Lawrence.

The American Bandmasters Association, founded in 1929, with John Philip Sousa as Honorary Life President, recognizes outstanding achievement on the part of concert band conductors and composers. Its invitational membership consists of approximately 300 of the leading band conductors and composers throughout the United States and Canada, along with music businesses and corporations that provide significant services to bands and to the publication of band music.
