Ensemble Placement Auditions

Winds, Brass & Percussion

Spring Ensemble Auditions for Winds, Brass & Percussion
going on now!

Spring auditions must be submitted via video by 5:00pm, October 31, 2021.

All students must submit a video recording of them performing the prescribed excerpts. Students may select recording device and cell phone quality video is acceptable. Students may submit separate files for each excerpt, but it must be clear that the audition was recorded in one take.

All music majors and scholarship recipients are required to audition and be available to play in Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, or Symphony Orchestra. Consequently, all music majors and scholarship recipients are expected to keep their schedules completely conflict-free until after the audition results have been posted. Top winds, brass, and percussion players will rotate semesters between the KU Wind Ensemble and the KU Symphony Orchestra. Each candidate’s video file will be validated and given an audition number. The audio will be extracted and forwarded to the audition panel for placement to preserve the anonymity of each candidate. Submit video HERE.
