Alan Street PhD is Assistant Professor of Music Theory at the University of Kansas. Formerly a member of the teaching staff at Keele and Exeter universities, UK, and University College Dublin, he has also held research posts at Clare College, University of Cambridge, and Yale University (where he worked with Allen Forte). From 2008-09 he was Visiting Slee Professor of Music Theory at SUNY Buffalo. A member of the Editorial Board of the journal Music Analysis since 1994, he became Editor in 2005 following an earlier period as Critical Forum Editor (1998-2004). In 1999 he was invited to become a member of the Advisory Board for the Composers of the Twentieth Century series published by Yale University Press. The author of numerous articles on aspects of musical and critical theory, his most recent published work includes a contribution to The Philosophical Horizon of Composition in the Twentieth Century collection edited by Gianmario Borio, and the Cambridge Companion to Twentieth-Century Opera, edited by Mervyn Cooke.
