Faculty News: Scott Watson

Scott Watson, professor of tuba/euphonium, has a new book titled Brassword: A Holophrastic Method for Teaching Young Brass Players, which is published by Fishface Press and available at www.brassword.net.

The books uses Watson's holophrastic (words or slogans that are full of meaning) method developed at KU through his 41 years of teaching brass. The method is intended both for music educators and students in music education classes in brass methods.

In November Watson presented clinics on this Holophrastic Method at both the British Columbia Music Educators Conference and the Saskatchewan Music Educators Conference. Both clinics were supported by Buffet-Crampon Musical Instruments for which Watson is an Artist-Clinician.
