KU Opera presents “Champagne & Gershwin Music Revue” on Jan. 23 & 24
LAWRENCE - The University of Kansas Opera will present Champagne & Gershwin Music Revue at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 24 in the Crafton-Preyer Theatre in Murphy Hall.
John Staniunas, professor of theatre, will direct the performance; he also serves as the choreographer. Mark Ferrell, associate professor of opera, serves as the music director.
Champagne and Gershwin Music Revue celebrates the work of great American composers George Gershwin and Cole Porter. Each song “sparkles” with pure “Americana” from the 1920s and 30s. Song, dance, fun, flirtation, joy, and exuberance are performed by eight of the most talented singers in the KU School of Music, accompanied by an orchestra of faculty players.
Tickets for both performances are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance exclusively in Murphy Hall Room 460. All seats are general admission. For ticket information call 785-864-3436.
