KU School of Music presents faculty recital featuring Joyce Castle
LAWRENCE, KS — The University of Kansas School of Music will present a faculty recital featuring Joyce Castle, mezzo-soprano and KU professor of voice, on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 7:30 PM in Swarthout Recital Hall. Mark Ferrell, associate professor of music, will accompany Castle on the piano.
In her recital entitled “Mostly Bernstein,” Castle will sing many of his very diverse songs. Additionally, she will perform Ravel's “Chansons Madecasses” accompanied by Mary Elizabeth Thompson, flute, and Ed Laut, cello, and a scene from Michael Tippett's opera “The Midsummer Marriage.”
“I had many encounters with the late great Leonard Bernstein, sang so many of his works, and sang for and with him. I am excited to re-visit those works,” Castle said.
