KU Symphony Orchestra presents concert celebrating the birthdays of Benjamin Britten and Richard Wagner at Lied Center on Nov. 24
LAWRENCE - The University of Kansas Symphony Orchestra will present a concert celebrating the birthdays of composers Benjamin Britten and Richard Wagner at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at the Lied Center of Kansas.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children, seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at the Lied Center Ticket Office, by phone at 785-864-2787 or online at www.lied.ku.edu.
The concert, conducted by David Neely, KU director of orchestral activities, and student conductors will include Tragic Overture, Op. 81 by Johannes Brahms; Clarinet Concerto No. 1 in F minor, Op. 73 by Carl Maria von Weber featuring soloist Stephanie Zelnick, KU associate professor of clarinet; Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten by Arvo Pärt; “Dich teure Halle” from Tännhauser featuring soprano Amelia Rollings, Ph.D. student in vocal pedagogy, and Overture to Rienzi by Richard Wagner.
