KU University Band and Symphonic Band to present joint concert Feb. 20
LAWRENCE - The KU University Band and Symphonic Band will present a shared concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20 at the Lied Center of Kansas.
To open the performance, Sharon Toulouse, assistant director of bands, will conduct the University Band, featuring the works “Encanto” by Robert W. Smith, “Credo” by James Barnes and “Sparks” by Brian Balmages.
Matthew O. Smith, associate director of bands, will conduct the Symphonic Band. Performance highlights include “Chester - Overture for Band” by William Schuman, “Old Home Days” by Charles E. Ives and “Instinctive Travels” by Michael Markowski.
This concert had previously been scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 21, but due to unforeseen conflicts with athletic events that involved band members, the concert was rescheduled to Monday, Feb. 20.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children, seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at the Lied Center Ticket Office, online at lied.ku.edu or by phone at 785-864-02787.
