KU Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band to perform Oct. 20
LAWRENCE, KS – Performing works that range from the Renaissance to current day, the University of Kansas Wind Ensemble and KU Symphonic Band will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20 at the Lied Center of Kansas.
The KU Wind Ensemble, conducted by Paul W. Popiel, director of bands, will begin the program with Canzon Duodecimi Toni by Giovanni Gabrieli, Old Wine in New Bottles by Gordon Jacob and Pele by Brian Balmages and featuring on French horn Paul Stevens, associate professor of horn.
The KU Symphonic Band, conducted by Matthew O. Smith, associate director of bands, will perform First Suite in E-flat by Gustav Holst, all stars are love by Steven Bryant, Popcopy Rated T by Scott McAllister and Americans We by Henry Fillmore.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children, seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at the Lied Center Ticket Office, by phone at 785-864-2787 or online at lied.ku.edu . The concert is one of ten that make-up the KU School of Music’s season ticket package at the Lied Center. By purchasing the ticket package, ten concerts are available at the reduced cost of $50 for adults and $25 for children, seniors or students.
