Alumni News: Jennifer Antonetti named 40 under 40 by Yamaha

KU Music alum Jennifer Antonetti (BME '07, MME '13) was recently included in Yamaha’s 40 under 40 roundup celebrating excellence in music education. Hundreds of music educators from a wide variety of programs and backgrounds were nominated to receive this recognition from Yamaha. Among the reasons Antonetti was selected are her commitment to her students, her inclusion of compositions from marginalized-communities in the music room, and her innovations in technology to help other music educators and band leaders. Antonetti is the assistant director of bands at Topeka High School, the director of bands at Robinson Middle School, and the band director at Meadows Elementary School — working with over 250 music students every day.

Putting the A in STEAM, another accomplishment she is being recognized for is the app she and her husband developed for music educators. Additionally, she is in the process of starting a Kansas chapter of Women’s Band Director International, which will fall under the umbrella of the Kansas Bandmasters Association.
