    Early Summer Graduation Deadline, Last day to meet all requirements for summer graduation to avoid enrolling for summer classes. You must have been enrolled in the spring semester to be eligible.

    Last day to file Application for Graduation in Enroll & Pay for summer graduation Summer Graduation Deadline, Last day for summer master’s and doctoral candidates to meet all degree requirements. This includes submission of ALL paperwork to the School of Music graduate coordinator at musicgrad@ku.edu. No extensions will be granted. Applicants will not be listed in the commencement program.     Mandatory New GTA Conference, In-Person from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (all day)

    Music History Diagnostic Examination, 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Online via Canvas If you have questions about the exams, please contact Dr. Roberta Swartz (rfschwar@ku.edu).

    The Music Theory Diagnostic Examinations, 8:00 – 1:00 PM, Online via Canvas. More information at: https://music.ku.edu/grad-music-theory-diagnotic-exam-practice.     Graduate Student Fall Meeting & Orientation, Swarthout Recital Hall, 3:00 PM-4:30 PM, ALL Graduate Students are welcome to attend but new graduate students are strongly encouraged.

  • August 20 (Su)

    School of Music (SOM) New Student Welcome Orientation, Swarthout Recital Hall, 3:00 PM-4:00 PM. All new students are welcome, primarily geared toward undergraduate students.

  • August 21 (M)

    FIRST DAY OF CLASSES, Late Enrollment Begins, $150 Fee

  • August 25 (F)

    LAST DAY to enroll online; Last day for 100% refund

  • September 4 (M)

    LABOR DAY, no classes

    Music Theory Doctoral Qualifying Examination. Access the test at 9:00 AM on Friday, 9/22. Due no later than 9:00 AM on Monday, 9/25 (administered via Canvas). If you have questions about this exam, please contact Dr. Brad Osborn at bradosborn@ku.edu. Contact musicgrad@ku.edu by 9/18, if you plan to complete this exam in fall.

    Music History Doctoral Qualifying Examination, Music Library Seminar room, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with a lunch break. More information is available in the School of Music Doctoral Handbook. Contact Dr. Paul Laird if you plan to complete this exam by October 16th.
