Biography

A proud Jayhawk, Emily Rossin received her Ph.D., Master of Music Education, and Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Kansas. Prior to pursuing her doctorate, Emily was a music teacher in the Blue Valley School District in Overland Park, Kansas. There, she taught elementary, middle, and high school band, as well as elementary orchestra. She has taught undergraduate courses in elementary and secondary instrumental methods, conducting and rehearsal techniques, and human learning and development.  

As an active researcher, Dr. Rossin studies the organizational behavior of music ensembles. Her past research has included topics such as ensemble goal orientation, teacher feedback, and student motivation. She regularly presents at national and local conferences and symposia, and is published in the Journal of Research in Music Education and Music and Science. She is a member of NAfME and plays clarinet in the Crossroads Wind Symphony.
