Sara Bonner

Sara Bonner is returning to the University of Kansas as a lecturer in General Music Education. Ms. Bonner began her teaching career with Hesston Public Schools in 1991 and joined the Lawrence Public Schools the following year. Sara earned her Master of Music Education degree from Wichita State University. During her 33 years in Lawrence, Sara has enjoyed teaching preschool classes, university courses and presenting workshops for teachers on music education research and instructional strategies while teaching K-5 music at Deerfield Elementary. Sara hosted over 20 teachers during her public-school career.  In 2015, Ms. Bonner was named Lawrence Elementary Teacher of the Year and in 2017 was awarded the Lied Center of Kansas Teacher Impact Award. In addition to her community music educator role, Sara enjoys singing in various local organizations. She is a member of ECMMA and NAfME.
