Alumni Choir

You are invited to the beautiful KU campus in Lawrence on December 7th & 8th for the 100th Annual Vespers Concert! Join us for rehearsal, performances, and a chance to reconnect with friends and fellow singers.

If you choose to sing with us in the concerts (2:30 & 7:30 PM) on Sunday, December 8th, we need you to also commit to the rehearsal on Saturday, December 7th. We will plan for plenty of time for you to visit campus (Murphy Hall tour anyone?!?!), have a look around Lawrence, and catch up with other Vespers Veterans. A light meal will be served to all registered Alumni Choir members between performances on Sunday, December 8th.

Saturday, December 7th schedule and things to do

Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade 9-11 AM Downtown Lawrence (FREE & Optional)
Murphy Hall tours 12:30-1:30 PM. Your guides are Keaton Alexander and Jack Starcke. Meet them in the lobby outside of Crafton-Preyer (University) Theatre. They will be happy to show you around the building and let you have a look at the remodeled Swarthout Recital Hall.
Bales Organ Recital Hall tour 3 PM. Dr. Higdon will meet you at the entrance to Bales where it connects to the Lied Center. Stop at the Pavillion on the way in, and we will give you directions!
Lied Center tour 3:30 PM. Meet a member of the backstage crew at the Alumni Choir table at the Pavilion.
Alumni Choir Rehearsal 4-6:30 PM in the Lied Center Pavilion. Follow the signs to park near the Pavilion and look for the School of Music Welcome banner to direct you to the Pavilion entrance. Check in at the table to get your swag bag & music for the rehearsal.

Sunday, December 8th (@Lied Center of Kansas 1600 Stewart Drive)

Warm Up with the stage choir & orchestra 1:30 PM. Be in your seats in the balcony in time to start exactly at 1:30 PM. Your ticket for each performance will be in your swag bag.
Vespers performance #1 2:30 PM.
Alumni Choir Dinner 5 PM in the Seymour Gallery (lobby outside the first balcony). The dinner is FREE but you must register in advance. Unless you indicated that you would not be joining us for the dinner on Sunday between performances, you will have a place at the table. If you signed up by email, I added you to the meal list. If you’re not sure, contact me!
If you are concerned about cross contamination or if this menu does not meet your dietary requirements, feel free to bring food and join us!

What to wear:

The stage choir and orchestra will be wearing concert black. You are welcome to do so as well, or if you want, add some color and sparkle to your look! Festive attire is welcome.
