Biography

Alex Frank, lecturer in jazz studies, teaches private jazz guitar lessons as well as Jazz Ensemble II and beginning group guitar. Holding a master's degree from the University of Kansas in Jazz Composition, Alex has written numerous arrangements for artists such as Renee Rosnes, Anat Cohen, and Bobby Watson, as well as original works for large and small ensembles. In 2022, he was selected as an ISJAC Symposium presenter for his original work “Hymn for Peace”.  In addition to his regular performances in Kansas City, Alex has recently been traveling the world, working with world-renowned French composer Pierre Bertrand and was also commissioned to arrange a new setting of music for Norwegian percussionist Terje Isungset.
