Stanley Shumway

A music theorist and composer, Shumway was chair of the first unified music department in KU's history in 1981. He held the post for five years. He formerly served as associate dean of the KU School of Fine Arts and as director of graduate studies. A faculty member from 1961 to 1996, Shumway is the author of the widely used text Harmony and Ear Training at the Keyboard, published by McGraw-Hill.
